Central responded, however, with two shots of their own eight minutes later within 21 seconds of each other - one high from senior Annie Freer, and one from Casey that was saved by FDU goalie Felicia Burr. The two teams remained evenly matched for the duration of the first period, posting four shots and two corner kicks each in the half. Deiter notched four saves, compared to three for Burr.

FDU started the second half posting two shots and a corner kick in the first four minutes however, it was Casey who broke free mid-way through the half. Casey was brought down as she approached the goal and was awarded a penalty kick that landed in the bottom left corner of the net to put the Blue Devils up 1-0.

Central's defense held strong for the remainder of the game allowing only one more shot for FDU totaling eight on the day (five on goal) compared to 11 (six on goal) for CCSU. Both goalkeepers posted five saves in the match.

The Blue Devils will wrap up their 2012 season and celebrate Senior Day at home on Sunday, Oct. 28 against Sacred Heart at 12 p.m.
