Centenary Defeated By No. 22 Montclair State
MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Francesca Gibson and Erin Sullivan both scored a pair of goals to lead 22nd-ranked Montclair State past the Centenary College women's soccer team 5-0 Saturday afternoon at MSU Soccer Park.
Gibson got MSU (3-0) on the board in the sixth minute off a feed from Jenna Carroll. The Red Hawks doubled their lead 10 minutes later following a score from Sullivan.
Kaila Fassano's goal extended Montclair State's advantage to three just before halftime, while Gibson and Sullivan added second-half tallies to cap the scoring.
Junior goalkeeper Megan Williams (Glenside, Pa./Abington) played all 90 minutes in net and made seven saves. Centenary was held without a shot on goal.
The Cyclones return home on Wednesday to face William Paterson at Hackettstown High School beginning at 6:00 pm.
