Centenary Earns School Record 6th Straight

October 23, 2013

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Centenary College men's soccer team ran its winning streak to six games, setting a new program record, as it blanked Neumann 2-0 on Tuesday night at Morrison Field.

The Cyclones surpassed the previous record held by the 2006 squad that won five consecutive matches. Centenary improved to 9-5-2 overall and 6-1 in Colonial States Athletic Conference play, while the Knights dropped to 10-5-2 and 5-2 against league competition.

CC struck for both of its goals during the first half. Sophomore Sean Robinson (Mount Olive, N.J./Mount Olive) put the Cyclones on the board as he redirected a shot from classmate Glenn Brennen (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) into the back of the net.

17 minutes later, junior Quinn Khouri (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) struck for his team-leading sixth goal, padding the Centenary lead. Freshman Luis Marin (Union City, N.J./Union Hill) sent a lead pass to Khouri, who fired a shot between Knights' goalkeeper Alex Lacko's legs.

Sophomore net minder Jesse Goleman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) kept Neumann off the scoreboard, stopping two shots during each half. The shutout was Goleman's sixth of the season and fourth in the last five games.

Both teams recorded 12 shots and five corner kicks and Lacko made four saves for the Knights.

Centenary looks to continue its winning ways on Saturday when it hosts Rosemont (2:30 pm) at Warren Hills High School in its final home game of the fall. The team will honor its senior class prior to the start of the match.
