Centre falls 1-0 to Austin on penalty kick
The Centre women's soccer team got off to a rough start on its Texas road trip, falling 1-0 to Austin College on an early penalty kick Friday in Sherman, Tex.
After an Austin player was taken down in the box in the 38th minute, Kelsey D'Amore converted the ensuing penalty kick for the only score of the game.
Centre and Austin each took 10 shots in the contest. Austin goalkeeper Maya Warnock made seven saves in the shutout victory while Centre's Kelli Lenz (Louisville, Ky.) had one in the loss.
With the loss, Centre falls to 7-3 overall on the season with a 1-2 record in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Austin improves to 6-4 overall with a 2-1 mark in the conference. Centre will be back in action Sunday when it meets University of Dallas (9-3, 1-1 SCAC) at 1 p.m.
