Published: September 19, 2011

ELMHURST, Ill. - North Dakota State junior Holly Christian was named The Summit League Offensive Player of the Week after scoring twice against Nebraska Omaha Sunday and helping the Bison open their home schedule 2-0.

This is Christian's first career weekly honor and the first offensive player of the week award for NDSU since Lorraine Thompson on Aug. 30, 2008.

Christian scored the first two goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-1 win over Nebraska Omaha on Sunday, Sept. 18.  It was the second multi-goal game of her career as she also scored twice against North Dakota in the 2010 season opener.  She also tallied two shots on goal in the 3-0 shutout of Montana Friday, Sept. 16.

The Apple Valley, Minn. native has two goals and one assist so far this season.

Western Illinois goalkeeper Victoria Kappel was named Defensive Player of the Week after making four saves in a 1-0 shutout of Green Bay.
