Cichero Named SMU Tournament MOP

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU's Mauro Cichero was named the most outstanding player of the SMU Tournament, as selected by the participating coaches. SMU won the men's soccer invitational with six points via wins over Oakland, 2-1, and Cornell, 3-0.

The Mustangs had five selections named to the all-tournament team, including Cichero. The Mac Hermann candidate had the game-winner against Cornell. Garrett McLaughlinJordan CanoCaleb Smith and Michael Nelsonalso represented SMU on the all-tournament roster.

Second-place finishers Incarnate Word earned four points following an opening round draw against Cornell (2-2) and a 2-1 victory against Oakland. The Cardinals earned three all-tournament team nods, including Fernando Laverde, who scored once on seven shots, with two shots on frame.

Cornell and Oakland each had two players selected to the all-tournament team each.

The Mustangs next match is Thursday at No. 1 Stanford at 10 p.m. CT/8 p.m. PT (Pac-12 Network).
