Coastal Carolina Announces 2013 Recruits

CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina University men's soccer head coach Shaun Docking has announced the Chanticleers' 2013 recruiting class. The 14 newcomers, who were announced Wednesday, will join the squad later this summer, alongside recent spring semester transfers Simon Laugsand (Marist) and Ridge Robinson (Drexel).

Signing National Letters of Intent or Coastal Carolina acceptance of admission letters were prep and international stars: Birkir Bjornsson, Sergio Camargo, Devin Cook, Frederick Frankman, Ben Jacks, Tapiwa Kaseke, Andrian McAdams, Pierre Morin, Kai Morton, Kennedy O’Shea, Michael Parado, Joel Perez, Rik Ruddick and Drew Smith.

“We are very excited to add this deep recruiting class to our team that finished ranked 12th nationally last season,” said Docking. “This class has depth of experience, including six players with youth national team experience, which should pay immediate dividends at the collegiate level.”

Birkir Bjornsson

Prior to Coastal Carolina: Scored five goals and tallied 16 assists in leading the senior squad to the Reykjavikur championship in January 2013 … Named the U19 player of the year in 2011 … Led the U19 team to the 2012 San Marino Cup championship along with the 2011 fall season title.

Sergio Camargo

Prior to Coastal Carolina: Member of the Canadian U17 World Cup team in 2011-12, earning five international caps … Earned one cap with the Canadian U20 team, scoring a goal against Trinidad & Tobago … Member of the Toronto FC Academy … Appeared with Toronto FC in a friendly against Liverpool in the 2012 World Football Challenge … Earned the CSL Reserve’s rookie and most valuable player of the year awards in 2011 … Spent time in Toronto FC’s training camp with former Chanticleer Ashton Bennett in 2013 … Four-year honor roll student at Bill Crothers Secondary School.

Devin Cook

Prior to Coastal Carolina: Starting goalkeeper for the USL’s Austin Aztex, playing alongside former Chanticleer Ross Kelley … Attended Southern Methodist University … Did not see game action in 2012 … Played two games, including his first collegiate start against No. 13 William & Mary as a freshman in 2011 … Played club soccer for Lonestar SC... Named an ESPN Rising Star ... Played for the U14 National Team ... Was a member of the Region III and Texas state ODP teams ... Was 2009 adidas ESP participant ... Played in the 2010 New York Red Bull Cup ... TopDrawerSoccer.com ranked him as one of the top 100 players nationally and one of the top 10 in Texas ... Played for St. Stephens Academy his junior year ... Prior to Coastal Carolina: Tallied 67 goals, 23 assists and 19 game winners for his career at Christian Brothers College … Scored 31 goals as a senior, including five in one game, to set the Christian Brothers College record for single-season goals scored … Named MVP of the Inter C.B.C. tournament after finishing with eight goals in six matches … Named best athlete as a senior along with gathering MVP awards in soccer and basketball.

Andrian McAdams
