Women’s Conference Tournament Summary for Wednesday
Big 12 Quarterfinals
Texas Tech 2, Kansas 0
Janine Beckie and Dawn Ward scored for the Red Raiders and Victoria Eason made 6 saves to earn the shutout in goal.
TCU 2, West Virginia 0
Eric Bell’s Horned Frogs pulled off a major upset over top-seeded WVU. Vittoria Arnold made 6 saves in goal while Monica Alvarado and Kelly Johnson provided the goals for TCU.
Baylor 3, Oklahoma State 0
Dana Larsen, Lisa Sliwinski and Vic Hoffman scored for the Bears, who got a shutout in goal from Michelle Kloss.
Texas 3, Oklahoma 0
Kelsey Shimmick scored twice for the Longhorns and Abby Smith kept the ball out of the UT net.
In Friday’s semifinal, TCU plays Texas and Baylor will meet Texas Tech.
Big Ten Quarterfinals
Illinois 2, Minnesota 2 (Illinois advances on PKs, 3-2)
Taylor Uhl fired the Golden Gophers to a 2-0 lead with goals three minutes apart in the first half. Things looked bleak for Janet Rayfield’s Fighting Illini as Uhl’s opening goal came on a penalty, the award of which also brought a red card for defender Amy Feher Despite being down a player and two goals, Illinois came roaring back. Aliina Weykamp knocked home a rebound in the opening half and Niki Read finished a through pass from Vanessa DiBernardo in the second half to force overtime, which failed to result in a winning goal for either side.
Illinois goalkeeper Steph Panozzo made a crucial save in post-match penalties and defending tournament champion Illinois lived to fight another day.
Penn State 2, Iowa 0
Erica Walsh’s Nittany Lions won their 17th game of the season as goalkeeper Erin McNulty was credited with 14 saves on the day.
Emily Hurd opened the scoring in the 17th minute off an assist from Maya Hayes, while Maddy Evans scored on a helper from Raquel Rodriguez to seal the deal..
Ohio State 1, Nebraska 0
Ellyn Gruber scored the first-half winner on an assist from Megan Fuller, while Jillian McVicker recorded a shutout in goal.
Michigan 2, Wisconsin 0
Haley Kopmeyer recorded a 4-save shutout, and Holly Hein and Nkem Ezurike scored to put Greg Ryan’s Wolverines into the semifinal.
In Friday’s semifinals, Illinois faces Penn State and Ohio State will meet Michigan.
C-USA Quarterfinals
Tulsa 1, East Carolina 0 (OT)
Rebecca Handley scored the overtime winner for Tulsa, with Hayley Harryman recording a shutout in goal.
Colorado College 2, Houston 1
Katie Uyenishi spared the top-seeded Tigers’ blushes when she scored the winning goal with just four seconds remaining in regulation.
Jasmine Martinez put Houston up early, before Brittney Lyman answered with a first-half equalizer.
SMU 3, Rice 1
Rachael Larson, Rikki Clarke and Shelby Redman scored to lead the Mustangs to the upset victory over Rice.
UCF 2, Memphis 0
The Golden Knights went on top early when an Andrea Rodrigues cross was knocked into their own net by the Tigers. Tishia Jewell doubled the margin in the 65h minute for UCF. Lianne Maldonado earned the shutout in goal.
In Friday’s semifinals, Colorado College meets Tulsa, and SMU will face UCF.
Mountain West First Round
Nevada 1, Boise State 0
Daisha Jones-Oglesby scored an 85th minute winner.
UNLV 3, Fresno State 0
Jenn Wolfe, Denali Murnan and Susie Bernal scored for the Rebels, while Kylie Wassell kept a clean sheet in goal.
In Friday’s semifinals, New Mexico will play Nevada and top-seeded San Diego State meets UNLV.
SEC Quarterfinals
Texas A&M 1, South Carolina 0 (OT)
Jayne Eadie scored the overtime winner for the Aggies, with Allie Bailey getting the assist. Jordan Day recorded another shutout in goal for the victors.
Auburn 0, Tennessee 0 (Auburn advances on penalties, 5-3)
Amy Howard made the crucial PK save to send Karen Hoppa’s Tigers to semifinal round.
Florida 2, Mississippi 1
Jo Dragotta put the Gators on top early, but Ole Miss equalized through Erin Emerson in the 81st minute. With 91 seconds remaining in regulation, Erika Tymrak came up with a winner on a free kick to put Becky Burleigh’s team in the semifinal.
Missouri 2, Kentucky 1
Haley Krentz and Alyssa Diggs scored two minutes apart in the first half for Mizzou, who held on for the win after Caitlin Landis pulled a goal back for Kentucky.
In Friday’s semifinals, Texas A&M meets Auburn, while Florida will face Missouri
Sun Belt Quarterfinals
North Texas 1, Florida Atlantic 0
Carly McDowell scored a 1st-half winner from a Tori Adame assist, with Jackie Kerestine earning a shutout in goal.
Western Kentucky 1, Arkansas State 0
Amanda Buechel scored the second half winner for the Hilltoppers on assists from Ali Stahlke and Kelsey Burnette. Nikki Hall made 4 saves to earn the shutout in goal.
Florida International 2, Troy 0
Chelsea Leiva and Kim Lopez scored with FIU, both on assists from Scarlett Montoya.
Middle Tennessee State 2, South Alabama 1
Amalie Anderal opened the scoring for MTSU with a shot from distance. Whitney Jorgenson doubled the Blue Raiders lead in the second half before Liz Snavely pulled one back for South Alabama to make things interesting at the end.
In Friday’s semifinals, North Texas meets Western Kentucky and Florida International will play Middle Tennessee State.
