CHICAGO – While the consistency of college soccer at producing pro players for the NWSL has dropped off compared to the early years of the league, it remains a cornerstone of moving talent to the next level.

The 2019 edition of the NWSL Draft started off as predictable as any draft could. With the news that Tierna Davidson would forego her final season of eligibility to enter the draft, she had her named called with the No. 1 selection by the Chicago Red Stars. While it marked the end of her collegiate career, it started off a promising day for the 2017 national champions, as three Cardinal players were picked in the first seven selections on the day.

Jordan DiBiasi (No. 3) and Tegan McGrady (No. 7) will continue as teammates at the next level, as both were picked up by the Washington Spirit. Competing at Stanford was a big part of helping DiBiasi get to that point.
