Colonels post 1-0 shutout win over Rhodes
The Centre College women's soccer team made a first-half goal stand up as the Colonels defeated Rhodes College 1-0 Friday, Oct. 21 in Danville, Ky.
Centre has now won two straight and three of its last four to improve to 10-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, while Rhodes falls to 8-5-1 overall and 3-3 in league play.
Sophomore Claiborne Willis (Brentwood, Tenn.) hit the back of the net at the 31:12 mark in the first half for the lone goal of the match and her first of the season.
The Colonels out-shot the Lynx 7-1 in the first half and 12-3 overall, while also having an advantage in corner kicks 7-3. Senior goalkeeper Kelli Lenz (Louisville, Ky.) earned the shutout victory stopping both shots she face on the evening.
Centre will be back in action Sunday, Oct. 23 against Millsaps College. Start time is set for 12 p.m. in Danville, Ky.
