Colorado Mesa Prevails In OT Over Men's Soccer
GRAND JUNCTION – Colorado School of Mines men's soccer had a season-best eight shots on goal Friday at Colorado Mesa, but was undone by a penalty kick conversion in overtime as the Mavericks took the conference-opener, 1-0, at Walker Field in Grand Junction.  

Roy Abergil recorded the deciding score and his third of the year at the six-yard stripe with 3:32 to play in the extra session.

Despite a 10-4 advantage on corner tries by CMU (3-1-1, 1-0 RMAC), Mines only allowed three shots on frame – second-fewest this season.

Junior Richard Garvey led with a game-high three looks at net; redshirt freshman Ryan Blarr added two, while seniors Tannor Randle and Matthew Alemann and junior Joe Haines each had one.

Sophomore Collin Hall (2-2) turned aside two shots in the loss.

Mines (2-2, 0-1 RMAC) wraps up weekend play at 1 p.m. Sunday against Colorado State-Pueblo at the Rawlings Soccer Complex in Pueblo.
