Brooklyn Heights, New York---The awards keep coming in for the 2013 Northeast Conference champions, St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers.  On Friday, it was announced that junior forward Kevin Correa (Flushing, NY/Flushing) was named to the 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men’s All-America Third Team. 

“Kevin had a fantastic season and deserves the recognition that he is receiving,” commented 2013 NSCAA All-North Atlantic Region Coach of the Year Tom Giovatto.  “He has a bright future ahead of him and we are proud of his accomplishment, both individually and to the success of our team.”

It is Correa’s first All-American selection.  The junior forward becomes just the ninth Terrier all-time to be named to the All-American team and the first since Duke Shamo received All-America Second Team Honors back in 1998.  Correa joins the likes of Phillip Lapisa (Honorable Mention 1974), Gregory Kourtesis (Honorable Mention 1976), Dragan Radovich (First Team in 1976, 1977, and 1978), Gaetano Messina (Honorable Mention 1978), Philip Klah (Honorable Mention 1979), Clyde O’Garro (First Team 1979), Miro Urlic (Second Team 1979) and Duke Shamo (Second Team 1998).

The 2012 Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year showed no signs of a “second-year” jinx.  The Flushing native was instrumental in the Terriers’ success in capturing their first conference crown in fifteen years.  Correa tallied four goals during the NEC Tournament, two of which coming off free-kicks in the championship match against Bryant.  For his efforts, he was named Tournament Most Valuable Player and named to the All-Tournament team.  Most recently, Correa was named the NSCAA All-North Atlantic Region First Team while being one of 29 finalists for the 2013 Soccer News Net College Boot Award.  

During the season, Correa led the team for the second straight year in goals scored with thirteen tallies.  In addition, he added six assists and 32 points to rank among the top-three in the Northeast Conference in all three statistical categories.  In his short career, the former Flushing High School star has amassed 24 goals, which is currently 11th best all-time in St. Francis Brooklyn and his 57 points are currently good for 13th all-time in school’s history.
