Cortland
BUFFALO, NY—Dylan Ross (Staten Island/St. Peter's Boys) netted the game winner as Buffalo State (5-6-1/2-3) blanked visiting Cortland (7-6/4-2), 1-0, in a SUNYAC game today at Coyer Field.
After a scoreless first half, Ross registered his team-leading fourth goal of the season after putting back an initial shot by Brett Lanham (Newstead/Williamsville North) that rebounded and caused a scramble in front of the Red Dragons goal.
Cortland outshot the Bengals, 12-9, and held an 8-7 advantage in corner kicks. Ian Huntoon (Stamford, CT/West Hill) had five saves in 90 minutes and picked up his third win of the season.
This is Buffalo State's first win against the Red Dragons since a 2-1 victory during the 2007 regular season.
Buffalo State will host Alfred for a non-conference game on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
