The University of Wyoming women's soccer team suffered a 5-2 loss to San Diego State on Friday evening at the SDSU Sport Deck in San Diego, Calif. After the defeat the Cowgirls fell to a 7-2-0 Mountain West record for second place in the MW standings.
Freshman forward Candace Sciberras paced the offense with two shots on goal and tallied a goal, her second on the season.
Wyoming (9-7-1 overall) dominated the first half with a 7-6 shot advantage finding one goal and the 4-1 edge on corner kicks. However, SDSU capitalized on two goals in the 20th and 41st minute. Sciberras found the back of the net in the 30th minute off an assist from freshmen midfielder Alisha Bass. The Cowgirls went into halftime with a 2-1 deficit.

Wyoming battled back with eight shots, but came up short with SDSU finding the back of the net in the 61st minute and another off a penalty kick in the 66th minute. UW senior defender Alison Clarke found the back of the net off a free kick from an Aztec foul at the 72-minute mark for the 5-2 finish.
