MORAGA, Calif.--CSU Bakersfield (4-7-2) played to a 1-1 tie with Saint Mary's (5-5-2) in women's soccer action Sunday afternoon.

Viki Shimkus scored on a penalty kick for the Gaels with just over 21 minutes to play in the first half. Megan Todd (Fr., Norwich, England, Sprowston Community HS) tied the score win the 35th minute when she headed in a Daisy Vazquez (R-Sr., Redwood City, Calif., Woodside HS) corner kick.

After a scoreless second half, the teams went to overtime. Saint Mary's had two shots in the first overtime compared to one for CSUB. Vazquez took a corner kick at 96:24, but the Roadunners could not convert on the set piece.

The Gaels had two shots (one on goal) and one corner kick in the second overtime. The Roadrunners had one shot in the second OT.

"Today was a battle, but I feel we had more quality opportunities," said CSUB head coach Melissa Phillips. "It was unfortunate to give up a penalty kick because that was their only attempt at goal up until that point. We have been able to move forward each game and again I am very proud of the way we organized."

CSUB hosts Utah Valley on Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Main Soccer Field. Fans attending can purchase $2 tickets by calling 654-BLUE or head to GoRunners.com
