HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Centenary College and Wesley College played to a 0-0 tie in non-conference men's soccer action from Morrison Field at Hackettstown High School Thursday night.
Cyclones' sophomore goalkeeper Jesse Goleman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) earned his second shutout of the young season, making six saves. Mark Mattern was just as good for the Wolverines (0-2-1) as he collected eight stops. Both keepers played all 110 minutes.
Wesley's top scoring chance came in the 10th minute after Bryant Rashford took a point-blank shot from in front of the net, but Goleman was up to the task and made the save.
Junior Quinn Khouri (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) recorded a pair of top scoring opportunities for CC (1-1-1). His shot during the 43rd minute was stopped by Rashford, while a second-half attempt went just wide.
Both teams tallied a pair of shots on goal during overtime, but were unable to find the back of the net.
The Cyclones attempted four corner kicks compared to two for the Wolverines. Wesley played all of overtime minus two players following a second red card during the 85th minute. CC was assessed four yellow cards.
The Cyclones return to Hackettstown High School Saturday night when facing SUNY-Purchase at 6:00 pm.
