Cyclones Erupt For Seven Goals In Win Over UNI
AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State soccer team scored early and often in a 7-1 rout of Northern Iowa Tuesday night at the ISU Soccer Complex.  The Cyclones’ seven goals were the most scored in a match since an 8-0 win over Kansas Newman on Oct. 15, 1997, and the team’s output goes down as the fourth-most goals ever scored in a game in program history.

Iowa State (4-2 overall, 0-0 Big 12 Conference) scored 3:08 into the match when junior defender Jessica Stewart launched a long-range shot into the back of the net.  Senior midfielder Megan Longobardi provided the assist on Stewart’s strike.

The Cyclones doubled their lead just over four minutes later (7:24) when junior forward Jennifer Dominguez scored her second goal of the season.  Sophomore Ashley Johnson did a lot of the work on the goal by beating her defender to the end line and centering the ball back to the onrushing Dominguez.

Johnson added her own goal at the 14:25 mark when she scored off a Stewart assist.

Northern Iowa (3-4) notched its lone goal at the 30:23 mark when Charlotte Jones scored to make it 3-1.

The score remained 3-1 at halftime.

Iowa State scored 20:21 into the second half when Dominguez registered her second of the night off an assist from Stewart.  Meredith Skitt produced the Cyclones’ fifth tally in the 73rd minute from a Susie Potterveld assist.

Sophomore Addison Nokels scored her first career goal with 7:30 remaining while freshman Lauren Waggoner provided the assist.

Sophomore Kaeli Flaska rounded out the scoring with a goal with 1:45 remaining off a Nokels assist.

Iowa State split time in goal with junior Maddie Jobe earning the win.  Jobe made two saves in 45 minutes of action and saw her season record improve to 4-2.  Sophomore Andrea Swanson played the final 45 minutes and registered a save.

The Cyclones travel to Minneapolis this weekend.  They play DePaul Friday at 4:30 p.m. CT at the University of Minnesota campus.
