September 19, 2011
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (September 19, 2011) – Senior Andrew Pinnella (Brielle, N.J./Manasquan) tallied a personal-best seven points on a career-high three goals along with one assist to lead the Centenary men’s soccer team (3-1-2) to an 8-1 win over Brooklyn (0-4), Monday in Hackettstown, N.J.

Pinnella is now the program’s all-time leader in assists, with 18. He ranks second in goals scored (29) and points (76) and needs three points to become the school’s leader in that category.

Centenary’s goals total marks a season-high and is its highest since Oct. 30, 2008, when the Cyclones tallied eight in a win over Baptist Bible. Against Brooklyn, CC scored six in the first half, its highest scoring output for a half since it netted six in the second period of an 11-1 win over College of Staten Island on Sept. 7, 2008.

Centenary racked up nine assists on its eight goals, including two by junior Patrick Bourland (Vienna, N.J./Hackettstown). Freshman Quinn Khouri (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) and sophomore Nick Telle (Union, N.J./Roselle Catholic) posted a goal and an assist apiece while sophomore Yuri Missenheim (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) and seniors Jason Rogers (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills), Tyler DeCraine (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) and Jimmy Corey (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) each tallied an assist for the Cyclones.

Freshman Dylan Bricker (Florida, N.Y./S.S. Seward), sophomore Reid Meeker (Phillipsburg, N.J./Notre Dame Green Pond) and senior Alex Walters (Sciota, Pa./Pleasant Valley) all scored in the win.

Pinnella recorded his fifth and sixth goals of the season in the opening 14 minutes of the game to give Centenary an early 2-0 edge. His first score came just 26 seconds into the contest off a pass from Bourland and his second was off a penalty kick. Pinnella’s assist came in the 38th minute when he set up Bricker’s first career goal. Brooklyn cut the lead to 4-1 in the 39th minute, but freshman Khouri and Telle each found the back of the net to give the home team a 6-1 halftime lead.

Pinnella netted his career-best third goal of the game in the second half off an assist from Telle and Walters tallied in the 84th minute to round out the scoring for Centenary. Rogers recorded three saves in the victory and DeCraine came on in relief and played the final 15 minutes.
