Dartmouth Men’s Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision to No. 25 Boston College

September 10, 2011

HANOVER, N.H.- No. 25 Boston College used goals in each half to defeat the Dartmouth men's soccer team, 2-0, in its home opener at Burnham Field on Sunday afternoon.

Senior forward Lucky Mkosana (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) led the Dartmouth (0-1-1) offense with three shots while freshman reserve Alex Adelabu (Houston, Texas) added two shots for the Big Green. Goalkeeper Noah Cohen (Johannesburg, South Africa) made two saves in his second start.

Boston College seemed to control the offense out of the gates and just minutes into the game had a shot hit off the post and scatter just wide of the Dartmouth net. Dartmouth picked up their offensive intensity and it wasn't long before the Big Green had a scoring opportunity in front of the Boston College goal. Mkosana received a ball out of the midfield and after two dribbles put a shot on frame that forced Boston College goalkeeper, Justin Luthy; to make a play on the ball to keep the game deadlocked.

The Eagles struck first in the 22nd minute of action on a goal from Amit Aburmad. Aburmad received the ball from the midfield and was able to weave through the Dartmouth defense for BC's first goal of the game.

Adelabu, who came in during the first half, was a game changer and minutes after he entered the game had a breakaway that would have equalized the game, but Luthy made the save to keep the Eagles ahead heading into halftime.

Boston College pulled ahead 2-0 in the 63rd minute on a goal from Stefan Carter. Carter's goal capped the scoring for the game and extended Boston College's win streak to four consecutive games.

The Big Green had several chances in the second half, including several opportunities off corner kicks in the second stanza, but none was closer than a chance from a corner kick in the 80th minute. Junior midfielder Kevin Dzierzawski (Oakland Township, Mich.) placed a corner kick that looked like it might skim off the top of Colin Skelly's (Wrightstown, Pa.) head and into the net but Luthy made the save to keep Dartmouth scoreless.

Aburmad and Kyle Bekker each posted three shots to lead the Boston College offense while Luthy made four saves on the afternoon.

Dartmouth continues its three-game homestand when it welcomes South Carolina, South Florida and Bradley to Burnham Field for the Dartmouth Classic on Sept. 9 and 11. The host Big Green will take on South Carolina on Friday (Sept. 9) and conclude tournament action against South Florida on Sunday (Sept. 11).
