DAYTON LOSES OPENER AT TEXAS IN OVERTIME

<p><strong>AUSTIN, Texas &ndash;&nbsp; </strong>The University of Dayton lost a 3-2 overtime match against the Texas Longhorns Friday night at Myers Stadium in the season opener. Senior Colleen Williams and junior Juliana Libertin each scored for the Flyers (0-1-0), while senior Alexis Garcia had both assists for UD. <br /> <br /> Williams scored the first goal of the Flyers&rsquo; 2012 season in the third minute to give UD a 1-0 lead. The senior put away the 42nd goal of her career after a botched clear on a corner kick by Garcia. She got by one defender and took another touch, freezing two Texas defenders and finishing to the back of the net.<br /> <br /> The Longhorns scored two unanswered goals to go up 2-1 with about 10 minutes remaining in the match.<br /> <br /> Libertin&rsquo;s goal came in the 87th minute to bring the match even. Garcia played a ball over the top as Libertin was making a run past the Longhorn defense. She beat the keeper and the ball trickled over the goal line and her goal forced overtime.<br /> <br /> Senior Kristin Cummins was the star for Texas (1-0-0), with an assist and two goals, including the golden goal to win the match in the 99th minute for the Longhorns.<br /> <br /> Texas had 21 shots compared to UD&rsquo;s 10. UT had seven shots on goal while Dayton had three, converting two of those for scores. Dayton had eight corner kicks to UT&rsquo;s five. The Flyers had three offside calls against them while Texas had none.<br /> <br /> The Flyers travel to San Antonio to take on UTSA this Sunday, Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. ET.</p>
