SAN DIEGO, Calif., - Senior forward Emily Dillon netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to help propel the University of San Diego women's soccer team to a thrilling 3-1 win over visiting Cal State Northridge in front of an announced crowd of 1,418 at Torero Stadium Sunday afternoon.

San Diego (3-1-0) wasted no time in scoring, as in the sixth minute of the match, Michaela Dooley controlled a cross from Jenna Owens, and took a touch, then fired off a rocket shot into the lower back post to give San Diego the early 1-0 lead.

The Matadors then managed to even the score up in the 22nd minute of action. Breanna McCallum controlled a cross from Amanda Smith, and hit a one-timer into the back of the net to move the score to 1-1.

After halftime, San Diego continued to push forward, and in the 76th minute of action, Dillon scored the game-winner. Dillon took a lead pass from Taylor Housley, and dribbled through a few defenders before hitting a laser strike into the back of the net to give USD a 2-1 lead.

Dillon wasn't done yet, as she then scored her fourth goal of the season in the 85th minute of action. This time it was all Dillon, as she stole the ball near the 40, and dribbled it through the Matador defense and then easily put the ball into the back of the goal to put the match at its final of 3-1.

Cal State Northridge outshot the Toreros 12-9, but USD held a territorial advantage in corner kicks at 7-3.

Michelle Craft was credited with the win in goal for the Toreros, as she allowed one goal, and recorded four saves. Her counterpart, Cynthia Tafoya, was saddled with the loss in goal for the Matadors, as she allowed three goals and recorded four saves.

San Diego will return to action on Friday, as they begin a 6-match road swing with a 5:30 p.m. game against No. 19 Texas A&M in the first game of the Texas A&M Tournament.
