FRESNO, Calif. - For the first time in four years senior Laura Dodd earned WAC Offensive Player of the Week honors (Oct. 31), the conference announced Monday. The Clovis, Calif. native tied a single-game career high in points in the Bulldogs conference win (2-1) over Nevada on Oct. 28.

"Being a midfield player you're usually not the one scoring all the goals, so it feels good to get the award," said Dodd of the honor.

She assisted the goal that tied the Bulldogs match against Nevada 1-1.

Dodd then scored the gamewinner four minutes later to lead the 'Dogs to their 10th win of the season.

She is top 10 against WAC opponents in points and is the fourth Bulldog to earn an offensive weekly honor from the conference this year.

Because of Dodd's award, the Bulldogs set a single-season program record for most conference weekly awards (7). The previous record (6) was set in 2006.

Fresno State is gearing up for the WAC tournament with regular season play behind them. The Bulldogs host the tournament for only the second time in program history this weekend (Nov. 3, 4 & 6).

"I think it's huge," said Dodd of the 'Dogs hosting. "I'm so happy that my last year we get to finish here. I think we're going in with a good position and we're ready."

As the No. 2 seed, the Bulldogs earned a first round bye and play the winner of Hawai'i and New Mexico State on Friday, Nov. 4 at 2:30 p.m. All matches will be played on the new Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

"We Are Your Team!" Fresno State is hosting the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Tournament Nov. 3-4, & 6 on its new Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
