'Dogs Drop Late Night Battle

October 19, 2011

The Fresno State women's soccer team could not rally back from an early deficit late Friday night and fell to Western Athletic Conference rival Hawai'i 3-0 on the road. The match did not end until just past midnight PST.

The Bulldogs were on a 10-match unbeaten streak against conference opponents coming into the matchup.

Hawai'i jumped out to a 1-0 lead with under 16 minutes remaining in the half. They would take their lead into the break.

With 18 minutes remaining in regulation, Krystal Pascua headed a pass from Crystal Fresquez to McKenzie McGoldrick who volleyed it over freshman goalkeeper Katie DeVault for the second goal of the match.

The Rainbow Wahine put the game out of reach with a little over five minutes remaining. Fresquez took a through ball in the box and shot it past DeVault.

Hawai'i (4-10, 3-1 WAC) committed more fouls in the match, but both teams finished the night with 10 shots, five on goal, and three corner kicks. The win moves the Bows into first place in the WAC. The Bulldogs drop to second.
