Eagles now #1; Nuzzolese and Stengel POTW

Defeating previous #1 North Carolina and following that match up with another road win did the trick for Boston College, as the Eagles climb to the top of this week’s Women’s Tournament 64 National Ranking.
Allison Kulik’s Eagles are is now 9-0-1 and edge out Stanford, with whom it played a 1-1 draw earlier in the season. Stanford also drew with North Carolina, now #3 in the ranking, earlier in the year. The Cardinal defeated #4 Portland 2-1 this weekend, giving the Pilots the first blemish on their record.
The Tournament 64 National Ranking is a running effort to project the 64-team NCAA Tournament field, including all automatic conference and at-large bids to the field. It is updated every Monday through the season.
Meanwhile, Wake Forest duo Rachel Nuzzolese and Katie Stengel have been named Co-Players of the Week based on their offensive exploits in a pair of victories for their team this weekend. With the honor, the freshmen headline this week’s Team of the Week.
Nuzzolese scored a pair of unassisted goals in the Demon Deacons’ 2-1 win over Duke on Friday, and added a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over Clemson. Stengel recorded 2 goals and 2 assists in the win over the Tigers.
