MOUNT OLIVE, NC - Junior forward Cody Farrier scored only 28 seconds into overtime to give Francis Marion University a 2-1 win over Mount Olive College on Wednesday night (Sept. 12) and hand first-year head coach John Campbell his initial victory at the helm of the Patriots.

FMU (1-3-0) will travel to Erskine College for a 5 p.m. kickoff on Saturday evening. (PLEASE note the match was orginially scheduled for 7 p.m., but has been moved up two hours because of a scheduling conflict)

Farrier's match-winner came after FMU midfielder Pascal Magiera chipped the ball down field and found the speedy forward on a breakaway.

Junior forward Alex Blandin forced overtime when he scored on a penalty kick in the 79th minute. Blandin had two opportunities to win the match in the final minute of regulation, but one shot was blocked and a second try went wide.

FMU's Robin Schittenhelm saw his header in the 85th minute hit the post as the Patriots recorded nine shots during the second half.

For the match, both teams registered 12 shots and three corner kicks. FMU freshman goalkeeper Tyler King made four saves en route to his first collegiate win, while Mount Olive's Nick Bernsdorf recorded three saves.

Tyler Vandevender gave the Trojans a 1-0 advantage with a goal at 77:30.
