In the first statement week of any team, Wake Forest hit the road to defeat two nationally ranked Power-4 opponents, and leading the charge was captain and TDS Player of the Week, Dempsey Brown.

The first performance came against No. 17 LSU, where the senior defensive midfielder played all 90 minutes and opened the scoring with a well-struck half-volley. The Deacs went on to win 2-0, and although she did not impact the scoresheet against No. 23 South Carolina, the Florida native was at her ball-winning best in securing a 3-0 victory. Those performances vaulted Wake Forest into a top 15 national ranking.
