FAU Women’s Soccer Falls at UALR
Little Rock, AR - The Florida Atlantic University women’s soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday afternoon in Sun Belt Conference action. The loss dropped the Owls to 4-5 on the season and 0-2 in league play.
The host Trojans scored two first-half goals before FAU junior Allison Griffin found the back of the net eight minutes into the second half. However, the Owls couldn’t close the gap any further, and UALR’s Ariel Galletti scored twice with a three-minute span of the second half to secure the home victory.
UALR (5-6-0, 1-1-0 Sun Belt) scored in the eighth minute as Rachel Maina fired a shot from 10 yards out after a pass from Alyson Rohane. The lead increased to 2-0 when Holly Holland scored in the 37th minute.
Griffin’s goal, her third of the season, was set up by an assist from sophomore forward Brittney Nash, who played the ball into the 18-yard box. The assist is Nash’s fifth of the season.
Griffintallied four of the Owls’ six shots in the match. Redshirt junior Meghan Brown and sophomore Kara Mundelein each had one shot.
FAU has its first home conference match on Friday, September 30, when the Owls host theUniversityofSouth Alabama, beginning at 7 p.m. Then,TroyUniversitycomes to town on Sunday, October 2, at noon.
