BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team battled Vermont to a 1-1 draw Friday at Virtue Field. With the draw, the Knights are now 3-4-1 on the season, while the Catamounts go to 2-5-1 overall.

Twelve minutes in to the contest sophomore Amanda Goulet ripped a shot off the crossbar, and the rebound found junior Kasey Schiavoni, who found the back of the net to give FDU an early 1-0 lead.

The Knights would lead at halftime despite being outshot, 7-5. Senior goalkeeper Sage DoVale made two of her six saves over the first 45 minutes.

In the second half Vermont went on the offensive and held a 9-1 advantage in shots. Late in the 79th minute Bre Pletnick beat DoVale to tie the game at 1-1.

Neither side could take the lead over the final 11 minutes of regulation or the 20 minutes of overtime, allowing the final outcome to finish in a 1-1 draw.

FDU will complete its four-game road trip with Columbia Sunday night at 7 p.m.
