The Fairleigh Dickinson men’s soccer team moved into second place in the Northeast Conference standings Friday night with a 2-0 home win over Bryant at University Stadium in Teaneck, NJ.  With the victory, the Knights improve to 9-3-3 (5-1-2 NEC) on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-12-1 (1-8-0 NEC) overall.

The Knights dominated the entire match as they put pressure on the Bulldogs all night long.  In the first half alone, FDU created eight scoring opportunities. 

In the 31^st minute of the first half, freshman #Anders Vest-Hansen# gave a one-touch to junior #Antony Moore# who delivered a cross to the middle of the box.  Sophomore #Jonathan Gonzalez# came sliding in and knocked the ball in from six yards out to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.  Vest-Hansen and Moore were both credited with assists.

FDU fired 12 shots over the first 45 minutes compared to only three by Bryant. 

In the second half, the Knights continued to put pressure on the Bulldogs with their attacking offense.  During the 54^th minute, Moore fed junior #Jack McVey# who then ripped a shot at the top of the 18 and found the lower left-right corner of the net for his team-leading sixth goal of the season.  The assist was Moore’s second of the game.

The Knights were able to empty their bench late in the game and cruised to the 2-0 shutout.

FDU outshot Bryant, 7-5, in the second half and 19-8 for the match.  Half of the Knights’ shots were on goal. 

Sophomore #Jacob Lissek# picked up his fourth clean sheet of the season and made three saves as he improved to 9-3-3 on the season.  George Spanos made six saves for the Bulldogs before being pulled in the 61^st minute.

“We played a solid game all the way around and earned an important three points,” Head Coach #Seth Roland# said.  “Now we turn our attention to Sunday’s game against Central Connecticut State which is a very important NEC contest.”

The Knights will conclude the home portion of their schedule with a critical NEC match on Sunday afternoon against Central Connecticut State.  The Blue Devils lost Friday afternoon to Quinnipiac, allowing FDU to pass them in the conference standings.  Kick-off at University Stadium is schedule for 3:00 p.m.
