PRINCETON, N.J. – Playing its first-ever match against an Ivy League opponent, the Francis Marion University women’s soccer team found the going tough as Princeton prevailed 6-0 in non-conference action on Monday evening (Oct. 10).

The Tigers (2-8-1) led 2-0 at halftime on goals by Lauren Lazo in the seventh minute and Sara Chehrehsa in the 44th minute.  Princeton would add four more scores over the final 45 minutes.

Francis Marion drops to 3-9-1 and will face another Ivy League squad, Brown, on Wednesday at 4 p.m. before returning home to Florence.

Princeton outshot Francis Marion 32-2 and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.  The two shots equaled the school record for fewest shots in a match by the Patriots.

FMU senior goalkeeper Lauren Vetock recorded a career-high 14 saves, while Claire Pinciaro (0 saves in 70 minutes) and Cecilia Di Caprio (2 saves in 20 minutes) combined for the shutout.

Patriot junior Rebeccah Hoekstra and freshman Tyler King registered Francis Marion’s two shots, both on frame and both in the second stanza.
