WEST POINT, N.Y.  – The leadership for the U.S. Corps of Cadets has been announced and includes a strong contingent of varsity athletes.

Five cadet-athletes were selected to lead the Corps of Cadets, including men’s soccer standout Winston Boldt, women’s basketball’s Jordan Elliott, cross country and track & field athlete Dayna Cline, and football players Larry Dixon and Joe Drummond.

Cadets at West Point must apply, be nominated, and interview for leadership positions among their peers before being appointed by the senior staff.

Boldt, a goalkeeper from St. Louis, Mo., will serve as the Deputy Brigade Commander, which ranks second in command under the First Captain. A Portuguese major, Boldt became the first Army men’s soccer player to earn All-America and Academic All-America honors in the same season in 2013, while recording a program single-season-record 12 shutouts.

Elliott, a guard on the women’s basketball team, was selected as the Brigade S1, which oversees the structure, personnel and administration requirements for the Corps. An Engineering Psychology major from Fayetteville, N.C., Elliott appeared in 24 games last season, playing an important leadership role as a tri-captain and helping the Black Knights advance to the NCAA Tournament.

Cline, from Tampa, Fla., was appointed as the Brigade S4 and will have leadership of logistics for the Corps. An Environmental Engineering major, Cline has seen action in 13 cross country meets over her three seasons and is fifth on the Army women's outdoor track & field top performances list with a 3,000 steeplechase time of 11:07.16.

Drummond, a defensive lineman from Pittsford, N.Y., was chosen as the Brigade Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The SAAC is comprised of team captains from all of Army’s varsity sports. An Economics major, Drummond has played in 20 games over his Army career with 27 tackles. Expected to be a major contributor to the Army defense this season, he graduated as valedictorian from Charles Finney High School.

Dixon, a senior fullback on the football team, will serve as the Brigade Physical Development Officer. An Economics major from Bremerton, Wash., he has appeared in 33 career games and rushed for over 2,000 yards during his career. Dixon has rushed for more than 100 yards on seven occasions and scored 17 touchdowns.
