Five Things: Big Ten bonanza, RPI released
Another big slate of action as the women’s college soccer season rolls on towards conference play. There were big wins to note, along with the release of the Rating Percentage Index on Monday.
Below are five things to know from last week’s action.
1. Big Boost for the Gophers in the Big Ten
A treacherous road trip awaited Minnesota to open its Big Ten slate, with visits to Ohio State and Penn State creating the possibility of a rude awakening to conference play. Neither was going to be easy, despite the Golden Gophers’ bright start to the current season.
Thanks to two well-played games on the road – both wins – against those two opponents, the Golden Gophers couldn’t have asked for a better start to Big Ten play. Junior forward Simone Kolander delivered the offense, nabbing the game winners in each win to secure the TDS Player of the Week award.
