CHICAGO -When the Flames needed a win, the Horizon League's two leading scorers took it upon themselves to seal the deal. Eric Frazier and Ivan Stanisavljevichooked up twice in the final seven minutes, with each scoring a goal and providing an assist, lifting the UIC men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Wright State in a pivotal Horizon League match at Flames Field Wednesday night.

With the win, UIC improves to 8-4-3 (2-2-1 Horizon), eclipsing its entire win total from the 2010 campaign. Wright State moved to 7-6-2, with a 3-2-1 mark in Horizon League action.

"Eric (Frazier) and Ivan (Stanisavljevic) were both able to give us some solid minutes after battling some tough injuries," said head coach Sean Phillips. "We've been working on getting the ball wide, and isolating our attacking players to get into some one versus one situations. That paid off for us tonight down the stretch with two late goals."

After more than 83 minutes of scoreless play, Frazier headed in the eventual game-winner at the 83:24 mark, connecting on a free kick by Stanisavljevic from about 35 yards out on the left wing. Stanisavljevic then gave UIC the insurance it needed just over five minutes later (88:34), playing a cross from Frazier in transition, and finishing to the near post.

UIC goalkeeper Piotr Kikolski preserved his third shutout of the season, turning away four shots by the Raiders, who dropped their first Horizon League decision since Oct. 7.

"Piotr made some great saves tonight, and made some nice plays when Wright State created some chances and came away with corner kicks," Phillips said. "This was a good win for us; Wright State is a very improved team, and played very well tonight."

UIC held an 11-8 advantage in the shots department, out-shooting its opponent for the 11th time this season. Joe Radice and Frazier each attempted a team-high three shots, while Zach Kaleta and Stanisavljevic took two. Brian Cothern took a team-high three shots for Wright State.

UIC will hit the road to take on first-place Valparaiso on Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m. CST. The Crusaders enter the contest with a 4-0-1 record in Horizon League play, after defeating Loyola, 1-0 on Wednesday.
