FLYERS ADVANCE TO SEMIFINALS OF A-10 TOURNEY

KINGSTON, R.I. – 
Kelsey Smigel, Haley Keller, Ashley Campbell and Juliana Libertin scored in Dayton’s 4-1 win against Massachusetts Thursday in the first round of the 2012 Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship. The Flyers improve to 14-4-1, while the Minutewomen drop to 9-10-1.

Smigel nearly scored in the fourth minute but her shot went off the post and rolled along the goal line. Smigel hit in the 35th minute on an assist from Steph Emery to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead at the half.

Sophomore Haley Keller scored her first goal of the season in the 49th minute.

UMass got within one goal on a header by Moa Mattson at the 53:22 mark.

Back-to-back goals by Campbell and Libertin, whose was assisted by Colleen Williams, put the  Flyers up 4-1 in the 64th minute.

The Flyers will play VCU in the semifinals Friday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. VCU defeated Saint Joseph's 4-0 in the quarterfinals.
