Friday night's contest was tied 1-1 after FMU's Kelly Anthony scored a fifth minute goal, but the match was cancelled due to weather in the 21st minute and rescheduled for Saturday. Neither goal carried over to the next day and unfortunately for the Patriots, their momentum failed to carry over as well. 

UNC Wilmington got goals in the fifth and sixth minutes to get out to a comfortable 2-0 lead and FMU was never able to recover. The Seahawks went on to win 8-0 in a game that was called early in the 70th minute due to lightning in the area around the stadium.

Two Patriots saw their first action of the season in defeat. Freshman goalkeeper Caset Murakami entered the contest in the 39th minute and managed three saves in just 30 minutes of gametime. Junior transfer Kiara Keisler also logged 30 minutes in her first action as a Patriot.  FMU starting goalkeeper Taylor O'Berry made four saves.

The Seahawks outshot Francis Marion 20-6, with all six FMU attempts coming from different players.

FMU (0-4-0) will return to action in the UNCW Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire Invitational when they take on Elon University, Sunday at noon.
