Four Different Warhawks Score in Win

Twenty-four different University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer players saw action in the Warhawks' 4-1 defeat of Westminster (Mo.) Sunday afternoon at Fiskum Field in Whitewater. Four different players scored for the Warhawks, winners of two in a row, as they improved to 5-3-2 this season.

The Blue Jays registered the first shot of the match, but the Warhawks registered the first goal. Henry Raymonds(Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) scored on a pass from Joey Pumo (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) in the ninth minute to give the Warhawks a 1-0 lead.

Pumo increased the lead to 2-0 five minutes later with his first goal of the season. Peter Raymonds(Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) recorded the assist on the goal.

UW-W pushed for a third first half goal with seven more shots before halftime, but headed into intermission with a  2-1 lead after a successful penalty kick by the Blue Jays 90 seconds before halftime.

Seventeen minutes into the second half the Warhawks took a 3-1 lead when Pumo and Peter Raymonds switched roles. The assist was the second of the game, and season, for Pumo and the goal was the ninth of the season for Raymonds, the team's leading scorer.

Finally, Adam Demaster (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) scored an unassisted goal in the 77th minute for a final score of 4-1.

Toney Anderson (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) made his second straight start in goal for the Warhawks and made four saves to improve to 2-0-1 this season.

Both teams tallied 16 shots in the match, but the Warhawks posted 10 on goal to the Blue Jays 6.

UW-W will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Decorah, Iowa to play Luther College in a match beginning at 7 p.m.
