Four Terriers Named To All-Northeast Team

November 14, 2013

New Britain, Connecticut----Four St. Francis Brooklyn men’s soccer players were chosen to the All-Northeast Conference First and Second Team, respectively, as announced by the conference on the eve of the 2013 Men’s Soccer Championship.

2012 Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year Kevin Correa along with senior midfielder John Johansson each garnered First Team accolades while senior forward Gabriel Bagot and junior defender Andy Cormack were selected to the league’s All-Second Team squad.

Correa, now a two-time all-league selection, led the Terriers for the second straight season in goals scored with nine tallies. In addition, he added six assists and 24 points to rank among the top-three in the circuit in all three statistical categories.  The Flushing High School product was a two-time NEC Player of the Week for St. Francis Brooklyn, who are back in the postseason for the first time since 2009.

Johansson, the Terriers two-time captain, was selected to his first All-Conference squad after chipping in four assists to rank second on a squad that, as a whole, finished third in that department.  The Kalmar, Sweden native has eight helpers for his career.

Bagot makes his third appearance on an All-Northeast Conference team, having earned Second Team accolades in 2012 and First Team selection as a sophomore in 2011.  This season, fourth-year forward tallied eight goals and 18 points to rank fourth in the conference in both categories.  He recorded four game-winners during the regular season and ranks tenth all-time in St. Francis Brooklyn men’s soccer history with 25 career goals.

Rounding out the Terriers All-Conference quartet is junior defender Andy Cormack.  An incredible defender and co-captain of this year’s squad, the Plymouth native helped anchor a Terrier defense that gave up just 14 goals, second fewest in the conference and the fewest under coach Giovatto’s watch.

St. Francis Brooklyn is the #4 seed and will take on 2013 Northeast Conference regular season champion and #1 seeded Central Connecticut tomorrow at 4:00 pm.  Fans can watch the game, free of charge, on NEC Front Row.
