Francis Marion falls to Wildcats
DAVIDSON, NC – The Francis Marion women’s soccer team dropped a 7-0 decision on the road to Davidson College on Saturday night (Sept. 26).
The Patriots (2-11-0) will play on their home turf for the next two matches. On Saturday (Oct. 3), FMU plays host to Longwood University for Senior Night with kickoff set for 7 p.m., and Elon University will come to Hartzler Field on the following Monday (Oct. 5) for a 7 p.m. start.
Senior Taylor O’Berry and sophomore Casey Murakami split time in goal for FMU. O’Berry played the first half and recorded three saves, while Murakami spent the second half in goal and registered seven stops.
Francis Marion had one shot in the match and that came off the foot of junior Tori Whigham in the 36th minute and was saved by Davidson goalkeeper Becca Ravitz.
The Wildcats (4-5), winners of three straight, were led on offense by Ashley Finke who had two goals in a span of four minutes in the first half. Dani Johnson, Kate Joss, Shannon Ballard, Sarah Tuggle and Lauren Grace Himes netted the other goals for Davidson, while senior Vicky Bruce recorded a single-game school-record four assists.
