Fresno State Defeats CSUB 3-0
FRESNO, Calif.--Fresno State kept the Valley Cup in Fresno with a 3-0 victory over CSU Bakersfield Friday night at Bulldog Stadium.
Meeting for the 10th time in women's soccer action, the Bulldogs struck 2:59 into the first half when Kayla Kret headed in a Nadia Pearl corner kick. Fresno State took a 2-0 lead in the 28th minute when Callie Hancock scored. Tara Boynton capped off the scoring with a tally in the 64th minute.
The teams combined for 43 shots on the night, 22 for the Bulldogs (13 on goal), 21 for CSUB (eight on goal). Roadrunner goalie Tori Ornela (Lemoore, Calif. Lemoore HS) made 10 saves, a season best for the redshirt freshman.
CSUB returns home next Friday when the Roadrunners host the University of Hawai'i in a 7 p.m. matchup.
