Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men’s soccer team kicked-off the 2012 Cougar Cup with a 1-0 overtime win against Brescia University on Saturday at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium.

The two sides were deadlocked after 90 minutes of play in a wet and rainy contest before Tech senior Aultain Gaye (Grand Rapids, MI/Grand Rapids Central) buried the game-winning goal midway through the extra period to lead the Warriors past the Bearcats.

The Warriors posted their third straight shutout to improve to 3-0 on the season, which is the program’s best start in more than eight years, while Brescia fell to 0-1.

“I thought the overtime goal was a good example of what happens when we commit to things,” said Indiana Tech Head Coach David Bokhart. “Podge (Padraic Ormsby) put his body on the line to win their corner kick and then Zach (St. Aubin) was first to the ball that sent Aultain in for the goal and took a hit. We just didn't get enough of that type of spirit during the 90 minutes.”

“We still didn't give up much defensively and can take that as a positive into tomorrow.”

Indiana Tech jumps right back into action tomorrow against Shawnee State University at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
