Good Knights Snap Raven's Win Streak

September 13, 2011

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The host Arcadia University Knights decisively snuffed out the Rosemont Men's Soccer season-opening three-game winning streak this afternoon by a final score of 5-1. The Ravens drop to 3-1 overall while the Knights ended a three-game losing streak with their victory, now sitting at 3-3 overall.

Only 1:49 into the first period the Knights John Pacana took a feed from Zachary Todd to give Arcadia the early 1-0 lead. Less than ten minutes later Rosemont's junior Pat McElroy (Stratford, NJ) found the upper right corner of the goal on a break-away from deep in the left pocket to tie the game at 1-1. Although the half ended with that score, Arcadia had many scoring attempts and had a decisive advantage in ball control.

Arcadia continued their superior ball control in the second term leading to the Ravens being outshot in the stanza by a 13-3 count. Four of the Knight's 13 shots found the net, all within a 15-minute span to end the scoring at 5-1 in the 71st minute.

The loss is the first for the Ravens this season, and the first for junior keeper Nick Hulayew (Hatboro, Pa.) who stopped four shots and yielding three of the five Knight goals.

The Ravens next travel to Reading, PA to take on the Alvernia Crusaders on Thursday, 9/15. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00pm.
