ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Grand Valley State women's soccer team won its eighth straight GLIAC regular season title after posting a 13-1-1 conference record.

GVSU shares the title with Michigan Tech who recorded the same league mark, but the Lakers earned the No. 1 seed in the GLIAC tournament due to a head-to-head win against the Huskies on October 19.

The Lakers host eighth-seeded Northwood on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. in Allendale in the GLIAC quarterfinals.  The expansion of the league led to an eight-team tournament with three full rounds.  The highest seed remaining after Tuesday's games will host the semifinal and championship game.

Senior Ashley Botts currently leads the Lakers with 27 points off a team-high 12 goals and three assists.  She owns five game-winning goals, including two over the weekend to help GVSU a 15-1-2 mark on the season.  Classmate Kayla Addison is close behind with nine goals and three helpers.  Senior Alyssa Mira leads the midfield with two goals and a team-high eight assists.

The Laker defense has recorded 15 blank sheets heading into the post saeason and has not allowed a goal since a 3-2 loss on October 12.  Senior keeper Chelsea Parise continues to extend her DII record with 59 solo shut outs.  Parise owns a miniscule 0.23 goals-against average, having only allowed four goals in more than 1550 minutes of play.
