Hamilton's First Career Hat Trick Leads Centenary

October 5, 2011
LANGHORNE, Pa. (October 4, 2011) – Junior Arielle Hamilton (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mt. East) recorded her first career hat trick to lead the Centenary women’s soccer team (5-3-1, 3-0-1 CSAC) to an 8-0 win over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Philadelphia Biblical (2-8, 0-5 CSAC), Tuesday in Langhorne, Pa.

The Cyclones’ scoring output marks their highest since tallying nine goals against Notre Dame (Md.) on Oct. 9, 2010. Against the Defenders on Tuesday, Centenary attempted 35 shots, including 19 on goal, and took 12 corner kicks. Freshman Megan Williams (Glenside, Pa./Abington) played the first half and turned aside PBU’s lone shot to get the win. Fellow classmate Nikki Gillis (Howell, N.J./Howell) came on for the second half.

All three of Hamilton’s came in the second half. Senior Tatiana Kingston (Mountainside, N.J./Governor Livingston) opened the scoring in the 13th minute when her corner kick found the back of the net. That 1-0 lead held until the 36th minute, when freshman Laura Potter (Gilboa, N.Y./Gilboa-Conesville) and senior Caitlin Veverka (Bayonne, N.J./Holy Family Academy) collaborated to put CC up, 2-0.

Senior Brittany Overland (Andover, N.J./Newton) scored on a penalty kick in the 41st minute and Veverka netted her second goal of the game moments later to give CC a 4-0 halftime advantage. Freshman Samantha Sysak (Bayonne, N.J./Holy Family Academy) netted her first career goal in the 48th minute and Centenary went on to win, 8-0.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 8, with a road CSAC game at Gwynedd-Mercy at 12:00 p.m.
