Hickey goal not enough for Lady Bisons

<p><strong>CINCINNATI &ndash;</strong> Traveling for the first time this season, the Lipscomb women&rsquo;s soccer team fell 2-1 to Xavier on Monday night at the Xavier University Soccer Complex in Cincinnati as the Musketeers scored the go-ahead goal with just seven minutes remaining.</p> <p>The Musketeers got on the scoreboard in the 25<sup>th</sup> minute as Sydnee Fields found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Mariah Whitaker six yards out.</p> <p>Lipscomb found a way to battle back quickly. Utilizing a free kick ten yards out of the box, freshman Alex Hickey tied the game at 1-1 for the Lady Bisons just five minutes later with her first collegiate tally.</p> <p>In the 84<sup>th</sup> minute, XU scored as Mariah Whitaker found an opening to the goal to take the 2-1 lead.</p> <p>A staunch Xavier defense limited Lipscomb to six shots on the evening and none following a Baylee Linnell shot in the 83<sup>rd</sup> minute. The sophomore Linnell had three shots for the Lady BIsons while freshmen Hickey, Caroline Chadwell, and Cristina Giron each had a shot.</p> <p>Senior goalkeeper Erin Zerio made eight saves for the Lady Bisons while her counterpart Katie Markesbery of Xavier made three saves.</p> <p>Staying on the road, Lipscomb travels to Conway, Ark. on Friday, Aug. 24, for a 4 p.m. match against Central Arkansas.&nbsp;</p>
