Hope Men's Soccer Tops Albion 6-3
Senior Jason Muller of Petoskey (Petoskey HS) registered a hat trick and his Hope men's soccer team matched a season-high in goals Saturday during a 6-3 win at Albion.
The Flying Dutchmen equaled the six goals they had Sept. 12 during a nonleague home match against Grace Bible.
Muller scored in the fifth and 32nd minutes to keep Hope tied 2-2 at halftime.
Muller extended the Flying Dutchmen lead to 4-2 in the 66th minute with his team-best 11th goal of the season. Nearly two minutes later, sophomore David Porte of Mattawan (Mattawan HS) tacked on his fifth goal of the season.
Hope improved to 11-3-1 overall and 7-2 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). The Flying Dutchmen remained tied with Calvin for first place in the league standings.
Hope also received goals from junior back Logan Sikkenga of Hudsonville (Hudsonville HS) and freshman forward Josh Hagene of Caledonia (East Kentwood HS). It was Sikkenga's fifth and Hagene's fourth.
Senior Grant Neil of Holland (West Ottawa HS) recorded three assists in the Flying Dutchmen's fourth consecutive win.
