Hope Women's Soccer Defeats Saint Mary's 2-0
Two juniors teamed up to help make Senior Night a winner for the Hope College women's soccer team.
Juniors Lindsey Bieri of Holland and Erin Jipping of Holland provided the offense in a 2-0 win against Saint Mary's Tuesday night at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
The Flying Dutch moved into second place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) standings with 31 points and a 10-2-1 league records. They lead third-place Alma by one point heading into Saturday's match at Alma.
It was the final regular-season home match for six seniors — forward Kristina Bosch of Holland (Holland Christian HS), senior goalkeeper Lauren Kooy of Metamora (Flint Powers HS), midfielderCourtney Laux of Novi (Novi HS), midfielder Amy Olson of Rockford, Ill. (Guilford HS), midfielderRachel Rebhan of Holland (Zeeland East HS) and forward Raisa Yewah of East Lansing (Okemos HS).
Bieri opened the scoring 11 ½ minutes into the match. She netted her third goal of the season in front of the net after converting a cross from Jipping.
Jipping added her fifth goal of the season 18 minutes later.
Junior goalkeeper Kat Dickson of Grayslake, Ill., (Grayslake Central HS) made one save in 80 minutes for the Flying Dutchmen. Kooy completed the shutout.
