Hope Women's Soccer Ties Saint Mary's
The Hope women's soccer team tied Saint Mary's College 1-1 on the road on Saturday.
The Flying Dutch are now 7-0-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA play). They lead the league standings with 13 points, one more than Alma College (4-0 MIAA). Hope hosts Alma on Tuesday at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
Senior midfielder Amy Olson of Rockford, Ill. (Guilford HS) scored 5 minutes, 58 seconds into the match on a header off a corner kick from junior midfielder Erin Jipping of Holland (West Ottawa HS). It was Olson's second goal of the season.
Saint Mary's tied the score in the 57th minute.
Hope junior goalie Kat Dickson of Grayslake, Ill. (Grayslake Central HS) made four saves.
The seven consecutive wins were the most to start a season for the Flying Dutch. The 2003 team started its season 10-0-1 with a tie in its second match.
