ODU’S TIM HOPKINSON NAMED C-USA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

IRVING, TX – For the second time this season, ODU senior forward Tim Hopkinson (Nottingham, England) has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week. Hopkinson scored the game winning goals in a pair of overtime matches at Charlotte Wednesday and against No. 10 UAB Saturday as Old Dominion won by identical, 3-2, scores in both matches. Hopkinson now has four game-winning goals this season. He also assisted on a goal at Charlotte. Hopkinson boasts 29 career goals and 17 career assists which rank him eighth all-time at ODU in goals, eighth all-time in career assists and his 75 total points put him fourth all-time at ODU.  Hopkinson currently leads the Monarchs with eight total goals along with two assists for 18 total points. He ranks 11^th nationally in goals scored and ninth nationally in total points.

The Monarchs, 6-3-1 overall and 3-1 in C-USA have played five overtime matches and are 2-2-1 (winning vs. Charlotte and UAB, losing 2-1 to Creighton, tying Maryland 1-1 and losing to Kentucky). ODU is 2-1-1 against nationally ranked teams this year. The Monarchs beating Tulsa and UAB, tied Maryland and lost to Creighton.

ODU returns to action Saturday night in Miami, FL., at Florida International.
