Lady Hornets add four to conference semifinalists

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State head coach Jodie Smith announced the addition of four student-athletes this fall who will be joining the Lady Hornets soccer program next season.
 
Alabama State is coming off a 7-11 record this season, and reaching the semifinals of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) tournament. The Lady Hornets entered the season after winning the previous two conference championships and playing in the NCAA Tournament. 

The list includes the following:
 
Isabella Beortegui, 5-5, Forward
Calvary Chapel HS (Costa Mesa, Calif.)

 
Played at Calvary Chapel High in Costa Mesa (Calif.)… 2015-16 Most Improved Student Athlete… 2017-18 Second Team All-League and Offensive Player of the Year… Four-year varsity letter winner… Member of the 2014 NHB State Cup Championship Club Team… Played full 90 minutes in every game on ECNL Club Team… Captain at Calvary Chapel High School.
 
Kayleigh O'Neal, 5-10, Midfielder
Del Norte HS (San Diego, Calif.)
 
Played at Del Norte High School in San Diego (Calif.)… 2015-16 Most Improved Student Athlete… Four-year varsity letter winner… Member of the LA Galaxy San Diego Club… Team captain at Del Norte High School... Chosen to play in Spain on a select team…. Two year track & field letter winner.
 
Paige Patton, 5-5, Defender
Kentridge HS (Renton, Wash.)
 
Played for Kentridge High School in Renton (Wash.)… Member of the 2017-18 Washington EPD/OPD Region IV Traveling team… 2017-18 USYS WA EPD Player pool… 2017 USYS Washington State Cup Finalist… 2017 USYS National League participant… Member of the 2014-15 undefeated 4x100-meter relay team…. Lettered in track for the 100M and 200M where she placed seventh and eighth in 2015-16.
 
Kristen Thomas, 5-8, Defender
Oconee County HS (Watkinsville, Ga.)
 
Played for Oconee High School in Watkinsville (Ga.)… 2018 USYS Region III Semi-Finalist... Georgia State Cup Champions… 2017 USYS Region III Southeast Premier League Division Champions… Georgia HS Association 8AAAA All-Region Soccer team… OCHS Offensive Player Award… Athens Banner Herald Newspaper nomination for Most Versatile Soccer Player Award… Two-year varsity letter winner and captain at Oconee County HS… Two year varsity track & field member… 2016 USYS Southeast East RPL Champion.
