ST. LOUIS – Ashley Catrell scored two goals and Cloe Lacasse collected a goal and two assists to lead Iowa to a 3-0 victory over Saint Louis Wednesday at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

Iowa, ranked 25th by Soccer America, improved to 9-0-0, while Saint Louis slipped to 1-4-2.

Livi Logan-Wood launched a game-high five shots, including two on goal, for the Billikens, whose 19-13 edge in shots included a 15-5 advantage in the second half. Maddie Gebauer had four total shots and two on frame, Lindsay Elking tallied four shots, and Jamei Borges fired all three of her shots on net.

Iowa grabbed the lead on Catrell’s sixth goal of the season, assisted by Lacasse, at the 27:23 mark. The same combination made it 2-0 at 51:52, and Lacasse netted her 11th goal of the year, assisted by Dana Dalrymple, for insurance at 58:38.

Katie Walsh made four saves for SLU. Hannah Clark played the first half between the posts for Iowa and made three saves, and Meg Goodson stopped six Billiken shots on goal in the second stanza.

“You have to give Iowa credit, they took advantage of their shots and buried them when they had the opportunity,” head coach Kat Mertz said. “We had a lapse in marking on the first goal. Our individual defending needs to be tighter on the flank.

“But I thought in the last 15 minutes of the game we showed promise,” Mertz said. “Our players coming off the bench really gave us a spark. We’ve played three games in six days, and that’s tough. But we battled hard, and now we’ll get ready for SIUE on Sunday.”

First whistle for the Billikens and Cougars is set for 1 p.m. at SIUE’s Korte Stadium.
